Workers’ Compensation Underwriter

Location: Norman, Oklahoma

They work closely with our sales team to analyze risks for our clients and promote our workers’ compensation program. About the role:

  • Assists with underwriting prospective Nextep clients submitted by Nextep’s Sales team for coverage under Nextep’s workers’ compensation program. Approves or declines prospective Nextep clients based on Nextep’s preferred risk appetite and works closely with Nextep’s worker’s compensation insurance carrier to assess all risk associated with Nextep’s prospective clients.
  • You’ll work closely with Nextep’s carrier to add and terminate clients off the policy, audit existing clients’ classification codes/operations using carrier provided information, NCCI Manuals, and other related resources. 
  • Bring your communication skills, because you’ll be working with our internal teams, clients, and insurance carriers to oversee the claims process. 
  • Our workers’ compensation underwriters start at $55-60K, on average. 

About you:

  • Ideally, you have a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Risk Management, but at least a High School Diploma or equivalent is required. 
  • You have 1-2 years of experience in workers’ compensation underwriting, and have a knack for customer service.
  • You exhibit a high level of problem-solving skills and commitment to quality and client satisfaction.
