FMLA Gets a New Poster

The Department of Labor has released an updated labor poster regarding the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). 

It is mandatory for all employers with more than 50 employees in a 75-mile radius to begin displaying the poster no later than March 8, 2013.

The new poster makes three primary updates to the older one:

  1. Broadens the definition of veteran to include a veteran discharged within the past five years.
  2. Differentiates the definitions of serious injury or illness for service members and veterans from the definition of serious health condition under which nonmilitary employees may qualify. 
  3. Notes that special hours of service eligibility requirements apply to airline flight crew employees.
