OSHA 300A Info: What You Need to Know in 2024

Heads up, businesses! Beginning February 1, many workplaces must post a summary of work-related injuries and illnesses from the previous year. This simple one-page form, called the OSHA 300A, gives employees easy access to safety info specific to their worksite.

Here’s the OSHA 300A rundown:
  • Who needs to post? Companies with 11 or more employees during the 2023 calendar year are required to maintain and post the OSHA 300A log unless the industry is an exempt industry per Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordkeeping requirements. More information can be found on the OSHA website.
  • When to post? From February 1 to April 30.
  • Where to post? Somewhere employees see it often, like a break room or bulletin board.
  • What to post? Just the OSHA 300A summary, not the whole packet.

Businesses can keep track of ongoing injuries using the rest of the OSHA packet (Forms 300 and 301). These forms are handy for internal purposes but are not submitted to OSHA unless requested, or the business qualifies under the new regulations below. Remember, companies are required to maintain OSHA logs for at least five years.

Changing regulations: 

Starting January 1, 2024, OSHA expanded its Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses Rule. Some larger companies (100+ employees) in specific hazardous industries must submit their work-related injury info, Forms 300 and 301, electronically. Companies must electronically submit applicable reports by March 2, 2024, for the 2023 calendar year. Check OSHA’s website for more details.
