As of January 1, 2017, companies will be required to electronically submit information from their 300A Injury and Illness Forms to OSHA each year.
As we’ve reported, each worksite must post a list of the previous year’s injuries on OSHA Form 300A. This new requirement adds the step of submitting this info electronically to OSHA. 250+ Employees:
- Must report 2016 injury info from OSHA Form 300A by July 1, 2017.
- 2017 info must be submitted by July 1, 2018 for ALL forms (300A, 300, and 301).
- Beginning in 2019 and every year thereafter, the info must be submitted by March 2.
20-249 Employees:
- ONLY certain high-risk industries are required to submit info. A list of exempt industries can be found at osha.gov.
- Submit info from the 2016 Form 300A by July 1, 2017.
- 2017 info must be submitted by July 1, 2018 for ALL forms (300A, 300, and 301).
- Beginning in 2019 and every year thereafter, the information must be submitted by March 2.
10 Employees or less:
- Certain industries and companies with less than 10 employees may be exempt from submitting unless there is a work-related injury to report.
- A list of exempt industries can be found at osha.gov.
Nextep will provide the OSHA 300 and 300A forms for clients utilizing our workers’ compensation policy, but we will NOT submit to OSHA.
OSHA will provide a secure website for data submission. Updates will be posted at osha.gov/recordkeeping when they’re available.
