The Way You Communicate OSHA Hazards is Changing

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has made several important updates to its Hazard Communication Standard. 

The new standards address the labeling, safety training, and classification of dangerous chemicals in order to better ensure employee safety.

Deadlines for the new hazard communication standards are as follows:

  • 12/01/2013: Initial employee training on the new labeling system and SDS format
  • 06/01/2015: Full compliance with remaining hazard communication standards
  • 06/01/2016: Update all in-plant labeling and conduct additional training
